Mauro Di Silvestre

Born in 1968 in Rome, Italy. Lives and works in Rome. Di Silvestre begins to exhibit in Rome in group shows since the year 2000. In 2007, he has his first solo, curated by Achille Bonito Oliva. Since then Di Silvestre exhibits in various Italian and foreign galleries and receives the awards for, New Art Award City of Lissone in 2001 and Premio Celeste (Emerging Artists) in 2004. Di Silvestre reflects on the  theme of memory, almost obsessively, constantly investigating the places, objects, feelings, and images of a past time.
The protagonists in his works appear, at times, invisible and inconsistent, sometimes as ghosts. The contrast between technique and idea is engaging; it is in fact the strong coloured painting that represents the evanescence and fragility of the characters. Among the most noticeable features in his recent work, is the interpenetration of events, people and places of the past, or present, which are interwoven in a web of intricate, restless and confused memories.
